What we
collect
Short version: analytics only if you say yes, your message only to reply to it, your email address only if you ask for the mailing list. We never sell or pass on your details.
Who we are
This site belongs to The Spirographs. The band's label, Yeep Records Ltd, is the data controller for anything collected here. To ask about your information, or to ask us to delete it, use the contact form and say so.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics to count visits, so we know which parts of the site are worth keeping. It runs only if you allow it. Until you do, nothing is requested from Google and no analytics cookie is set.
If you allow it, Google Analytics sets two cookies and records the pages you view, the site or search that sent you, your approximate location from your IP address, and your device and browser. It does not tell us who you are, and we do not use it for advertising.
Your choice is stored in your own browser rather than in a cookie, so declining leaves nothing behind. You can change it whenever you like using the cookies link at the bottom of any page. Clearing your browser data resets the question.
When you message us
The contact form asks for your name, your email address, what the message is about and the message itself. It is sent to the band's inbox by email, through our email provider, Resend. Nothing is stored in a database on this site. Your address is set as the reply address so we can answer you.
We do this on the basis of legitimate interests: you have asked us something and we need your details to reply. Messages stay in the inbox unless you ask us to delete yours.
The form carries a hidden field that people never see. If it is filled in, the message came from a bot and is discarded.
The mailing list
If you sign up, we store your email address with Resend, who send the emails for us. That is all we store. Resend also records when you signed up, the country the request came from and the wording of the consent you gave, which is how we can show the sign-up was genuine.
We only add you if you tick the box, and the box is never ticked for you. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and leaving takes one click. You can also ask us through the contact form. We keep your address until you unsubscribe.
Hosting
The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes the requests your browser makes, including your IP address, to serve the pages and to block attacks and abuse. That happens for every visitor and is not something we can switch off.
Who else sees your information
Resend, for email and the mailing list. Cloudflare, for hosting. Google, for analytics, and only if you allowed it. Nobody else. We do not sell your information, we do not share it with advertisers, and there are no advertising or social tracking scripts on this site. The fonts are served from this site rather than from Google.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it or delete it, and withdraw consent at any time. Use the contact form and we will sort it out.
If you are not happy with how we have handled it, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
